Anguilla, with a population of over 13,000, is a British Overseas Territory, 16 miles long, and 3 miles at her widest point. Located in the Caribbean, it is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, its nearest neighbor to the south is St. Martin/Sint Maarten, a distance of approximately 4 miles.
In addition to the main island of Anguilla itself which is approximately 26 km (16 miles) long by 5 km (3 miles) wide at its widest point, a number of much smaller islands and cays, mostly tiny and uninhabited are considered part of Anguilla.
